BY SAM NEIBART DEC 22, 2020

If nothing else, 2020 was a good year to work on your at-home manicure skills. From DIY press-on nail kits to removing gel on your own, we took nail care into our own hands this year. Luckily, cool and creative manicures are here to stay in 2021. The best thing about nail art in this day and age—anything goes. So if you're looking for some inspiration as we head into 2021, we've curated the most of-the-moment nail art trends from our Instagram feeds.

1.Black Accents

Add some edge to a sheer shade with daring black paint strokes.

2.Black Accents

Organic shapes are practically foolproof and this color combo goes with every outfit.

3.Lady Fingers

From a distance Vanessa Montoya's design looks abstract, but up close it's extra provocative.

4. Lady Fingers

Nail art takes on a whole new meaning with 10 miniature versions of Matisse's Blue Nude.

5. Logo Mania

There's a new way to show allegiance to your favorite designer without the hefty price tag.

6. Logo Mania

This chic, nude manicure by Aki Hirayama is almost understated, but the label on the accent nail takes it to another level.

7. Logo Mania

This Telfar-inspired look by Gracie J is perhaps easier to obtain than one of the brand's quick-to-sell-out bags.

8. Cable Knit

You can get really specific about matching your nails to you outfit with this sweater pattern by Miss Pop.

9. Cable Knit

Park Eunkyung's version is fully 3D. Knit one, purl two.

10. Talk to the Hands

No one can see your facial expressions when you're wearing a mask. Find another way to emote with this emoji-inspired design by Michelle Humphrey.

11.Talk to the Hands

Holly Falcone's teeny tiny floating smilies are sure to make you grin whenever you peek at your nails.

12. Green Thumb

Call it the Billie Eilish effect. We just can't resist quirky, bold shades of green.

13. Green Thumb

Can't commit to a full emerald mani? Try using the hue as a subtle accent.

14. Make Waves

Shani Evans demonstrates that three squiggly lines are all you need for an extra groovy look.

15. Make Waves

Mei Kawajiri ups the ante with a complicated, abstract mélange of curved and straight lines.

16. Midas Touch

Julie Kandalec topped this barely there mani with gold half moons. It's not the height of luxury unless there's some hardware involved.

17.Midas Touch

Or try gilding your cuticles with gold à la Brittney Boyce.

18. Cow Print

Leopard is played out, the next big thing in animal print in bovine.

19.Cow Print

In black, brown, or any other shade the cow print is extremely cute. It's an easy way to evoke '00s fashion without going full Y2K.
